HAPPY NEWS: New payment cards

If you have been following us for a while, you may have already seen something about the new debit cards that will be issued in the Netherlands. With these new payment cards it is possible to link our wearables directly to your bank account, so it's a win-win. We had to wait a while, but it's finally here; the banks have started issuing the new cards. We would like to tell you more about it in this blog.

AdornPay Wearables x The new payment cards
We have been waiting for the new cards to be issued for quite some time. This development also brings a huge advantage for our wearables. Our items can now be linked to your own bank account and are therefore accessible to even more people. Our items could already be linked to our Prepaid MuchBetter app or to your credit card via Curve. The new debit card can also be added to the Curve app, so that you can pay directly from your bank account with our wearables! Here you can find all the information about paying with our wearables and about Curve & MuchBetter.

Why a new debit card?
The card brands Maestro and V-Pay will disappear in the Netherlands. These brands will make way for Debit Mastercard and Visa Debit. The renewal of the payment cards is part of the Project DCA (Debit Card Acceptance). You can find more information about this on the website of the Dutch Payment Association . The current Maestro and V-Pay cards often do not work in online stores or outside Europe. With the Visa Debit and Debit Mastercard this is a thing of the past. The new cards also have newer security technology to better protect your data. The biggest plus? Thanks to the new cards with card number you can easily link your AdornPay wearable to your bank account.

Why haven't I received a new card yet?
Not all banks have yet started issuing the new debit cards. When you receive your new debit card depends on your bank. The following banks have already started issuing the new cards; Bunq, Knab, Triodos, SNS bank & Rabobank. ING & ABN Amro are expected to start issuing the new cards this year.

Your new debit card
The new debit card will look different, it will look more like a credit card. The debit cards have a MasterCard or Visa logo and contain a card number & a CVC/CCV/Security code. The card number consists of 16 digits (4 x 4) and the code consists of 3 digits. You will also always find your name, IBAN/account number and the expiry date of your card on the debit card.

Pay with our wearables or your new debit card in the store
In almost all stores you can already pay with our wearables & the Debit Mastercard or Visa Debit (after activation). ATMs implement automatic software updates. If a store accepts credit cards, it generally shouldn't cause any problems. But there are still some ATMs in the Netherlands where paying with our wearables or the new cards is not (yet) possible. Retailers will be notified about this and will have to update the ATMs so that credit cards, wearables & the new debit cards are also accepted at them.

Questions?
Do you have questions about paying with our wearables or about linking your new debit card to our items so that you can pay even more easily? We are happy to assist you via the chat on the website. NB; For specific questions about when you will receive a new card from your bank, we refer you to your bank's customer service.
